Opened in 2005, The Uptown hosted the likes of Green Day and the Dead Kennedys, and was named the “Best Rock Club” in Oakland. With two mezzanine lounges, an outdoor courtyard and a beautiful bar, The Uptown hosted weekly burlesque nights and comedy showcases, monthly queer dance parties, DJ dance nights and karaoke, in addition to an array of live music that ranged from punk to jazz, country, rockabilly, electronic, alternative and soul.
